Milano-Sanremo 2025
The Milano-Sanremo 2025, held on March 22, offered cycling enthusiasts a memorable edition, characterized by variable weather conditions and a thrilling finale.
The race, spanning 289 km from Pavia to Sanremo, featured participation from the best cyclists on the international scene.
The Race
The competition began under heavy rain, which accompanied the peloton until they reached the Ligurian coast.
Here, the sun emerged, drying the roads and setting the stage for the decisive phases.
After a regrouping with an early breakaway, attention shifted to the final climbs.
On the Cipressa, Slovenian Tadej Pogačar launched a decisive attack, promptly followed by Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel and Italian Filippo Ganna.
This trio maintained a significant lead until the Poggio di Sanremo, where Pogačar attempted once again to drop his rivals but without success.
Thrilling Finale
After descending from the Poggio, the three riders reached the final straight on Via Roma together.
In a tightly contested sprint, Mathieu van der Poel prevailed, securing his second Milano-Sanremo victory, following his 2023 triumph.
Filippo Ganna achieved a prestigious second place, while Tadej Pogačar finished third, once again postponing his quest for victory in this Monument Classic.

Post-Race Statements
Van der Poel expressed great satisfaction with his victory:
"Winning Milano-Sanremo is special, but doing so against two incredible riders makes me extremely happy and proud to share the podium with them."
Filippo Ganna, despite being pleased with his result, stated:
"Maybe I shouldn't have let van der Poel take the lead on the final straight, but he was like a rocket."
