Departure from Bergamo:
The cycling route starts from the city of Bergamo and winds from the outskirts through characteristic towns until reaching the southeastern shore of the lake.
Brescian Shore:
Upon arrival, cyclists begin from the Brescian shore of Lake Iseo, following a scenic road along the shoreline. The route offers spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains, with flat stretches alternating with short climbs and descents. Along the way, cyclists can admire picturesque villages and towns dotting the lakeshore, including Iseo, Sulzano, and Sale Marasino.
Passing through Monte Isola:
One of the highlights of the route is passing through Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe. Cyclists enjoy views of the island along a scenic road that offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It's a unique experience to immerse oneself in the tranquility of the island and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds it.
Bergamasque Shore:
After completing the circuit of the Brescian shore, cyclists cross the bridge to the Bergamasque shore of Lake Iseo. Here, the landscape changes slightly, with a road winding through hills and vineyards. The Bergamasque shore also offers spectacular views of the lake and mountains, with opportunities to admire picturesque villages such as Sarnico, Lovere, and Pisogne.
Return to Bergamo:
After completing the full circuit of Lake Iseo, cyclists return to Bergamo following the same route as the departure.
The route requires a moderate level of preparation only if time is limited. In reality, it is recommended to undertake this journey almost in bikepacking mode, enjoying the breathtaking views and stopping for spectacular photographs.
